About

Psychotherapy

People seek therapy for a number of reasons, and it is beneficial for many people at some point in their lives. The stress of everyday life strains relationships and the ability to cope, resulting in grief, loss, anxiety, and depression as well as many other concerns.

Often people put off seeking help because they don’t know what to expect. The process of therapy begins by identifying feelings, symptoms, concerns you are experiencing, and how they are impacting your life.

We work together to conceptualize the bigger picture, identify goals that will alleviate symptoms, identify root causes, and develop the skills needed to maintain the gains you achieve in therapy.

Therapy involves talking about whatever is on your mind or has been causing you distress. Through talking we are able to identify internal conflicts, patterns of behavior, maladaptive beliefs, and assumptions that are causing the stress.

“Human beings seem not to have been designed to handle as much instability in their relationships as contemporary life provides.”

Dr. Nancy McWilliams

As you learn more about yourself, patterns of behavior, and beliefs, you are able to make changes in your life that will help you better cope and improve your emotional health and well-being.

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.
